Oil on canvas | Unframed

A gentle seascape where shifting skies meet a reflective sea. Layers of soft blues and warm light create a sense of distance and openness, while flashes of silver across the water catch the light and bring a subtle luminosity to the surface.

There is a feeling of a moment suspended — something has passed, the world is beginning to settle, and beyond it lies a sense of possibility. For What Comes Next captures that space between what has been and what is still to come.

The reflective silver details change gently with the surrounding light, giving the sea a different character as the painting is viewed throughout the day.

Artist’s notes

I painted For What Comes Next while thinking about those moments in life that don't have clear answers.

The times when we've come through something difficult, the noise begins to fade and, without knowing exactly what the future holds, we find ourselves quietly ready for whatever comes next.

I wanted this painting to feel open rather than specific. The sea becomes less about a place and more about a state of mind, somewhere to pause, breathe and simply look towards the horizon.
